Family firm Malcolm Allan is in the final stages of completing its switch to new state-of-the-art premises in Larbert.
The award-winning company - recently named Scotland’s number one food brand - was due to have completed its move from Tamfourhill to ultra-modern premises at the Central Business Park by last Friday with production starting over the weekend.
A major investment by the business, gearing up to celebrate its 60th birthday in February next year, has secured the future of its 150-strong workforce and put it in the ideal position to compete for an even bigger share of the wholesale butcher market.
Years of careful planning went into finding new headquarters for the business which supplies its steaks, sausages, pies, burgers and bakery goods to every leading supermarket in the country.
Thanks to a significant investment by the company, the backing of Falkirk Council and the support of the Scottish Government’s Department of Rural Affairs, which helped with grants, the next chapter in the history of the firm founded by Malcolm Allan in 1954 is about to be written.
Its new home, which covers an impressive 25,000 square feet of Central Boulevard, is crammed with the latest hi-tech equipment from floor-to-ceiling fridge units and the latest ‘slicing, dicing and mixing’ machines, to automated production lines which will see the ‘raw’ materials arrive at one side of the factory and leave packed to order at the other.
Joint managing director Gordon Allan said: “There are still a few minor issues to resolve but the timetable’s on schedule to complete the final stages of the transfer as planned.”
