A Falkirk man has come up trumps in Scotrail’s recent staff awards.

Abhinay Ramani, known as Abs, scooped the outstanding contribution to innovation title for his unique contribution to the planning and delivery of services to support the Commonwealth Games and other major events by the train operator in 2014.

Abs, a senior continuous improvement manager, received the accolade at the company’s third annual Your Recognition Ball in Glasgow last month after planning services to free up 10 additional trains for the duration of the Games.

He said: “I was surprised and honoured to receive the award.

“It means a lot to me that I was recognised and deemed worthy of such an honour amongst the incredible work of so many of my colleagues across the organisation.

“This award would not have been possible without the assistance and efforts of numerous people in the business who have given me their complete support, and I would like to thank each and every one of them.”
