Young graduates are being offered a chance to get on the job ladder thanks to Falkirk Council.

The local authority has launched an initiative to give them an opportunity to learn practical skills to help further their careers.

Its Graduate Jobs Programme is now in its second year with 17 having completed the scheme and the latest programme offering 25 placements.

To be eligible, you must be a Falkirk Council resident aged 24 or under, be unemployed or working 16 hours or less a week and have graduated with an HND or above in the last 15 months.

Areas of training include ICT, communications, planning, surveying and human resources. The positions are paid at national minimum wage and the programme starts in late August.

Councillor Dennis Goldie, economic development spokesman, said: “Our programme gave local graduates the real opportunity of learning valuable skills.”
