A young Falkirk fashion designer has proved herself a cut above the rest after one of her dresses went on sale at a leading bridal boutique.
The ‘Classica Milena’ wedding gown, the work of Megan Casci, has been included in the new collection of Eleganza Sposa.
The 24-year-old recently visited the company’s boutique in Hamilton to see her creation modelled on the catwalk.
Megan said: “I’m looking forward to seeing my design on show and in a small way, playing a part in a bride’s special day.
“It’s an honour to have my dress featured in Eleganza’s collection and a great story to start off my fashion career.”
Her gown will feature in the firm’s 2014 collection which will be formally launched in January at the annual Eleganza Sposa catwalk show at Bothwell Bridge Hotel.
Megan graduated from the fashion business degree course at Glasgow Caledonian University and now hopes to pursue a career in fashion writing and design. Her design was one of four chosen by Eleganza Sposa after it featured in the university’s annual degree show earlier this year.
Anna Cirnignaco, Eleganza Sposa managing director, said: “I believe it is important to support young new designers and I was delighted to work with the fashion students.
“Through our collaboration, we gained access to fantastic new talent, and in return, we provided the students with practical experience that will help to launch them as designers.”
Glasgow Caledonian fashion lecturer Linda Shearer said: “From the initial brief through to the end product, Eleganza Sposa enables our students and graduates to develop their creative skills within commercial manufacturing and retailing constraints. The partnership is an opportunity for students and young designers to work with Scotland’s leading bridal wear retailer, giving them the chance to gain an insight into the business of fashion while working with leading industry professionals.”
