A Falkirk couple is hoping their new shop’s high quality food and organic vegetables will help bring fresh life to the town centre.
Hogans Fine Foods was opened in Vicar Street at the weekend by Joanna Hogan and her partner Graham Pringle. As well as foodstuffs, like Puddledub meat and Findlaters pate, the shop stocks gifts like Christmas hampers alongside cheese, chutneys and biscuits.
Former travel agent Joanna (37) said: “When I was made redundant by Thomas Cook in July, it seemed like a good opportunity for us to give it a go.
“We had tried some of the products before ourselves and we were really keen to sell them here.
“There is going to be a lot of investment with the townscape heritage initiative, which will hopefully help reinvigorate town centre shopping.”
The couple, who have a year-old son, Luke, got the keys to the premises on October 18, and have turned the place around in just six weeks. Graham said: “The feedback, especially on our Facebook page, has been fantastic.
“We were really busy on Sunday and had to go and get more stock!
“Our food is sourced as locally as possible – Falkirk, Linlithgow, Perth – which cuts down on the food miles and ensures the freshness.”
