Shieldhill villagers celebrate anniversary

The pharmacy opened last year

The pharmacy opened last year

Almost a year to the day since a pharmacy opened in
Shieldhill, locals say it’s difficult to imagine life without it.

The community’s prayers were answered last August when the Crossbrae
pharmacy opened its doors.

The facility had been something the local community council had requested for five long years, backed by an 877-signature petition.

Now, 12 months on, employees and residents say the pharmacy is thriving.

Iain Aird, superintendent pharmacist, said: “Everyone is delighted that we are here.

“It’s seems that we are still in a honeymoon period.

“Month after month, we have seen more customers using the pharmacy.”

The pharmacy, owned by Nevis Healthcare, provides a range of health services including prescriptions, a minor ailments service and smoking cessation support.

Maria Montinaro, from Shieldhill Community Council said: “We are really pleased to have this service in the village.

“It is so convenient and complements the services that we already have, especially the clinic.”
