Recognition is icing on the cake for Louise

Cake maker Louise Forbes has been commended in a national competition.

The mum-of-two from Polmont, who runs Cake Divine, received the accolade in the cake and mixes section of the FreeFrom Foods Awards 2012 for her dairy and gluten-free carrot cupcakes.

Judges looked at the quality of the product, usefulness, cleverness, nutritional profile and labelling.

Delighted at her success, Louise said: “I’m a part-time venture and only spend a few hours each week at this business. I entered this national competition alongside other manufacturers and all the leading free-from food suppliers including supermarkets.

“To get to this stage of the competition having just started out and being up against some major companies is such a big achievement for me.”

Over 300 products were entered in the 17 categories which included staples such as bread, pasta and breakfast cereals and indulgence products such as cakes, brownies and chocolates.
