Bringing a modern way of networking to the area’s business community is one of the main aim’s of Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Set up at the end of September, it can also offer training opportunities, resources and services, as well as the support of the other 26 similar bodies across Scotland.

Chief executive David Gardiner, who along with other staff from Falkirk for Business now works for the new organisation, said Chambers are no longer “old gentlemen’s clubs” but are modern and fit for the 21st century.

He said: “We are trying to broaden our mix of members and put on events that will be of interest. We’ve only a month along the road and already we’ve got some events planned and are looking at what we can do in the future.”

From just £100 plus VAT, businesses can become members and already almost 100 have signed up in Forth Valley.

Scotland’s first new Chamber for five years has also attracted the support of four Premier Partners, A9 Partnership, Bellair (Scotland) Ltd, Greig Melville Human Resources and Tapside Marketing.

One of its first events is planned for next Wednesday, November 21, and is a joint networking venture with Fife Chamber.

Taking place at Xtreme Karting’s venue at Newbridge, it will have Stuart Corrigan of Vanguard Scotland speaking on the topic of ‘Making your Marketing Sizzle’.

His business helps organisations improve their service, reduce cost and improve staff morale.

He will offer practical ideas about what he’s done to beat the recession and promises lots of tools and techniques which can be implemented in your business immediately.

This will include:

lThe importance of choosing the right target market.

lHow to test your target market without spending lots of time or money.

lWhy you should establish yourself as an authority in your marketplace and how to do it.

lHow to generate more income from every customer.

lWhy you sometimes need to change your strategy.

The cost of the event is £15 plus VAT for members – who can bring one guest for free – or £20 plus VAT for non-members. To book a place, phone (01324) 618962.
