Women who want to run their own business will benefit from £85,000 of investment, new enterprise ambassadors and an action plan to tackle the gender gap.
In the run-up to International Women’s Day on Saturday, Finance Secretary John Swinney unveiled the initiatives to help women start or build their businesses and unleash their potential.
The Investing Women scheme will receive £50,000 while the remainder will be spent on new women’s enterprise ambassadors who will act as role models and mentors, inspiring, motivating and connecting with female entrepreneurs.
The announcement came as the Women’s Enterprise Scotland survey revealed 87 per cent of female-led businesses are actively seeking to grow.
Mr Swinney said: “Scotland is a nation that is rich in talent with a great reputation in innovation and enterprise.
“These announcements will help women entrepreneurs to grow their business, benefit from the advice from other successful businesswomen and ultimately grow our economy.”
