Eagle-eyed commuters travelling from Falkirk’s two main line stations will have noticed that railway bosses have this week renamed them to celebrate the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

ScotRail has erected platform signs proclaiming ‘Falkirk Higher’ and rebranded Polmont ‘Polevault’ as part of a humorous campaign to engage passengers with the sporting extravaganza in Glasgow, which begins on July 23.

Other stations to be renamed as part of the nationwide campaign include ‘Cambuslangjump’, ‘Sprintburn’ and ‘Muscleburgh’.

Falkirk station manager Margaret Hoey said: “Hosting the games is a once in a generation opportunity so hopefully our new, fun signs add to the experience and the memories people have of Glasgow 2014.”
