An under-fire waste management firm is employing 49 more staff after winning local authority contracts.
Oran Environmental Solutions created the new jobs at its recycling plant in Abbotsinch Industrial Estate, Grangemouth, following Falkirk Council’s decision to extend its contract to handle blue bin waste for the next 12 months.
This is despite residents holding a bitter protest outside the site last July, stating Oran was the source of the flies their homes have been plagued over the years.
Oran group operations manager Forbes Mulholland said: “Contract wins with Falkirk Council and Fife Council, along with other additional business, has led to these jobs being created locally, which is excellent news for the local community and businesses.
“The new jobs will be for shift supervisors, plant operators, cleaners, fitters, quality control and some apprenticeships.”
Once the new staff are in place Oran wants the plant to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency continues to monitor the site to see legislation is followed.
