One of the district’s fastest-growing businesses is celebrating its latest success.
ID Systems (UK) Ltd unveiled its new premises in Grangemouth last week and also launched two ground-breaking innovative products.
The firm has grown from a handful of workers 10 years ago to almost 120 today.
It puts much of its recent growth down to picking up an accolade at The Falkirk Herald Business Awards in 2011 when it won the Most Innovative Company or Product category.
IDS provides engineering services to the water, gas and industrial sectors and its research and development division, Clearwater Controls, unveiled the next generation of the Deragger II at last Friday’s event.
Already a highly successful product, it monitors sewage pumps and prevents blockages, potentially saving water utility companies billions of pounds annually and preventing environmental incidents.
Scottish Water is one of its major customers and in 2012 named IDS its supplier of the year.
The official opening of Morley House in West Mains Industrial Estate was performed by MSP Margaret McCulloch. There was also an innovation fair with representatives from around 100 Scottish and international businesses present.
Managing director Iain Doherty said: “This has been an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our new products and premises to existing and potential customers.
“We are delighted with our new manufacturing facility; it greatly increases our manufacturing capability and will enable us to extend our remit to new and existing customers both domestically and internationally.
“We are experiencing considerable growth in our traditional markets, but at the same time we see huge potential for our innovation product range to reach new untapped markets, given the ranges’ ability to reduce operational costs and improve energy efficiency and customer satisfaction.”
Margaret McCulloch said: “In tough times for the economy, it is doubly important that we celebrate the achievements of businesses which are growing, innovating and generating jobs in Scotland. I can’t think of a better example of such a business than ID Systems UK Ltd.
“This is a real success story and it’s one that should be shared throughout the business community.”
