Step Forth

Parish Church

Last Sunday Rev. Murdo Campbell led the morning service and was assisted by Caroline and Keith Wansbrough who gave the youth address. The monthly evening service led by Ian Baillie, Session Clerk. This special service of lessons and carols featured contributions from the Girls’ Brigade, Explorers, Juniors and Brigaders and the Boys’ Brigade Anchor Boys and Junior sections. Euan Buchanan and Stuart McLeod from the Boys’ Brigade Company and Irene McNab and Maralyn Stirling from the Praise Group read the lessons. The Praise Band comprising of Linda Clarke, James Falconer, Neil Griffiths and Eric Smith led the praise. This Sunday the minister will conduct the Communion Services at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The Kirk Session will meet prior to these services at 10.30 a.m. and 2.45 p.m. The retiring collection at both these services will be for the Bible Society of Scotland. Tonight (Thursday) the Congregational Prayer Time takes place in the Small Hall at 7.45 p.m. The monthly afternoon meeting of the Guild will take place on Monday at 2 p.m. This will be a Christmas Afternoon with the Braes High School musicians. All welcome. The last date for posting cards for the Boys’ Brigade Christmas card delivery service is tomorrow (Friday) evening. The cards will be delivered over this weekend. Half the proceeds of the delivery service will go to BB funds and the other half will be used to help buy food for local families in the Braes area who are finding it difficult to make ends meet at the present time. On Saturday from 9.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m. the pre-fives will be holding a Nativity Fun Day to explore the Christmas Story in the halls and the church. There will be songs, stories, dressing up, crafts toys and the usual cakes and juice (and tea). Door duty this Sunday will be by Robin Johnston, May Kennedy, Jim Stirling, Maralyn Stirling, Sandra Smillie, Willie Tomlinson and John Rae. On crèche duty will be Gillian Beaton, Joanne Kilpatrick and Lesley Mann.

Friendship Plus

The next meeting of Friendship Plus is our Christmas Lunch which takes place at the Claremont in Polmont, 12.30 p.m. for 1p.m. on Wednesday. A two course meal costs £10.95 and a three course costs £12.50 payable on the day to Ishbel. Jean will be in touch regarding transport arrangements.
