Last Sunday, was the Holiday Club ‘Fit for a King’ all age family Service, the last of our summer services at the earlier time of 10.30 a.m. led by the Holiday Club MC’s for the week, Scot (Alistair McKay) and Tish (Megan Kerr). There were many contributors to this service. The prayers were led by the ‘Athletes’, Alisha and Brandon James, Adam Matheson, Isla Duke and Rachel Macleod. The bible reading was by Sara Glass and Ian McCallum. The drama team for the week of Jonty Haywood, Keira Paterson, Johnjo Paterson, Kirsty McKay, Peter Clarke, Emma Beaton, Louise Munro and Cameron Dick, directed by Edna Oliver and Linda Gillespie re-enacted Friday night’s drama. There was also an appearance by the Fit like.... Uncle Angus (Andy Gillespie). Eric Smith, Deputy Session Clerk, from the band The Misfits gave the message. Following the service a BBQ was held in the Heriot Hall and manse grounds to mark the end of a very successful week for this year’s Holiday Club. This Sunday, the minister will conduct morning worship at the usual time of 11 a.m. This Sunday also sees the resumption of the Sunday Schools (Beginners’ and Juniors) Triple S, Flaim and Wait for It, at 10.50 a.m. Tonight (Thursday) the Congregational Prayer time will take place at 7.45 p.m. in the Small Hall. The Boys’ Brigade enrolment for Junior and Company Sections only will take place tomorrow (Friday) and next Friday (August 29) between 6.30 - 7.30 p.m. The Anchor Boys will resume on Tuesday, September 9. The new session of the Guild begins on Monday, September 1 at 7.30 p.m. in the Rankine Hall. The first meeting will take the format of a short service of Dedication led by our Minister and this will be followed by an information time and chat. A warm welcome is extended to former and new members, as we look this session at the theme ‘A World to Serve’. Door duty this Sunday will be by Karen Fulton, Alistair McDonald, James Falconer, Sandra Smillie, Richard Baird and Andy Gillespie. The crèche at 10.50 a.m. will be manned by Gillian Hunter, Joanne Kilpatrick and Lesley Mann.
1st Polmont Girls’ Brigade: The new session of the Girls’ Brigade starts this week in the Church Hall as follows - Brigaders, S1-S6 - Enrolment took place yesterday (Wednesday) and will formally start next Wednesday (August 27) at 7.30 p.m.; Explorers, P1-P3 - Enrolment evening tonight (Thursday) at 6.15 p.m.; Juniors, P4-P7 - Enrolment evening is next Wednesday, August 27 at 6.15 p.m. All new girls will be made most welcome and we look forward to welcoming girls back from last session for another fun-filled year. Zumba with Pauline is on in Brightons Community Hall every Wednesday. We are back to the later start time of 8.15 p.m. No need to book, just wear suitable footwear and bring water. It would be lovely to see you.
