Step Forth

Like to walk but not on your own? Want to get fit but don’t know where to start? Why not join our walking group and meet new friends. Walk leaves the Grange centre every Thursday at 10 a.m. We now have a new walk leader for this walk. Masonic News

Lodge Polmont - On Wednesday, April 8, 93 brethren and visitors were welcomed into the lodge room by the Right Worshipful Master Bro Allan Simpson to witness a second degree. This included a large and distinguished deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire headed by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Bro Andrew A. McKinnon on his last official visit to the lodge as Provincial Grand Master before demitting office. At the conclusion of the ceremonial Bro Allan Banks RWM lodge 85 Kirknewton Ratho replied on behalf of the visitors congratulating the RWM on a fine rendering of the second degree. Prior to Provincial Grand Lodge retiring RWM Bro. Allan Simpson thanked the RWPGM Bro Andrew McKinnon for his help and support to Lodge Polmont throughout his tenure in office. The next lodge meeting will be on Wednesday, April 22. The business of the evening will be the Mark degree, correspondence, accounts and a ballot. While this will be the last meeting of the season the lodge will be attending Lodge Hopebridge Castle, No 827 Armadale on Friday, May 1. A bus has been arranged leaving at 6.30 p.m. from the lodge. On Saturday, May 2, The Squaremen will again be attending Lodge Polmont. All qualified brethren in good standing are invited to attend full details of either from lodge secretary.

Parish Church

Last Sunday, Rev. Murdo Campbell, led the morning worship at 11 a.m. assisted by Donald Meek who gave the children’s and youth address. This Sunday the minister will conduct worship at the usual time of 11 a.m. The Crèche, the Beginners and Junior Sunday Schools will meet as usual at 10.50 a.m. Triple S, Flaim and Wait for It will resume this Sunday following the Easter break at their usual time. Tonight (Thursday) the Congregational Prayer Time takes place in the Small Hall at 7.45 p.m. The next Science and Faith meeting will take place on Sunday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the Rankine Hall and will continue the theme of evolution, this time focusing on how the subject of human evolution is covered by the Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies in school. The Social Committee is organising a fun quiz night on Friday, May 15 at 7 p.m. They are looking for teams of four or more. Sign up sheets are available in the hall and church vestibules. Tea, coffee and cake will be served. There will be prizes for the winning team. Door duty this Sunday will be by John Anderson, Eric Smith, Jason Glass, Tom Grieve and Margo Graham. On crèche duty will be Moira Fyall, Linzi Matheson and Gillian Beaton.

Over-50s Group

Make It Happen Forum - The local meeting of the Make It Happen Braes Forum for over-50s will be held in the Grange Community Centre, Brightons on Monday, April 20 from 1.30-3.30 p.m. The Forum is a great way for over-50s to get involved, discuss ideas and concerns and to have a real voice in your community. This week’s talk is The Six Must Dos for Older People! Please come along and you’ll receive a warm welcome. The group is free to join. Tea/coffee provided.

Zumba Fundraiser

Zumba instructor Pauline is hosting a Zumba fitness fundraiser with all proceeds going to Diabetes Scotland. The event is taking place on Friday, April 17 at Braes High School from 7-9 p.m. There will also be a raffle on the night. Tickets cost £5 and are available at the door.
