Maddiston and Rumford Local History Group will hold their first meeting of the new season on Monday, August 10 in Maddiston Community Centre (Parkhall Drive) at 1 – 3pm. Anyone with an interest in the area will be welcome, if you like a blether about times past and a cup of tea then come along and join us.

Step Forth

Like to walk but not on your own? Want to get fit but don’t know where to start? Why not join our walking group and meet new friends. Walk leaves the Grange centre every Thursday at 10am. We now have a new walk leader for this walk. If you would like more information call 01324-504556

Parish Church

Last Sunday, the minister, Rev Murdo Campbell, led the worship and gave the children’s address at the 10.30am summer service. This Sunday, the minister, will conduct the summer service at the earlier time of 10.30 a.m. The Summer Sunday School for age groups three to P3 and P4 to P7 at 10.20am will be the final one before the schools return. The crèche continues as normal this Sunday at 10.20am. The Summer Holiday Club, (Rocky’s Place) for P1 - P7 children will take place from this Monday,to Friday, August 14 from 6.15 p.m. to 7.45pm. Pre-registration forms are still available from the church. Tonight (Thursday) the Congregational Prayer Time will take place at 7.45pm in the Small Hall. The latest date for articles for the next issue of Bright Lights is this Sunday. Articles can be submitted by email to brightlights@brightonschurch.org.uk or left in the box in the church vestibule. Door duty this Sunday will be by John Anderson, Ann McFarlane, Maggy Dick, Jason Glass, Tom Grieve, Pat Paterson and Margo Graham. On crèche duty will be Sandra Blair, Dorothy Harris and Shirley Jenkins.
