Two Braes schoolgirls were left disappointed after missing out on performing with Rod Stewart.
Grammy-Award singer performed a Christmas special on ITV last Saturday night at Stirling Castle and Alsion Goodbrand and Lynsey Higgins from Braes High School were supposed to sing alongside him with the National Youth Choir for the show with Michael Buble, Kylie Minogue and Nicola Benedetti also the star-studded line-up.
However, the plans were pulled by ITV at the very last minute as there wasn’t a 50/50 mix of boys and girls leaving the choir losing out on the opportunity of a lifetime.
A school source said: “The choir and Falkirk Council had pulled lots of strings to get the performance licences through on time and up until the last minute, they thought they were performing.
“To say the girls, and the choir, were gutted is an understatement.”
A spokeswoman for ITV said: “We were very disappointed not to work with the National Youth Choir of Scotland on this project.
“However, we did need a 50/50 split of girls and boys and after a number of conversations with the head of the choir we were told that they were not able to supply an equal mix for the song.
“As a result we had to work with another choir who were able to provide us with the correct mix of girls and boys.”
