Boom time at Ineos in Grangemouth

Demolition experts blew up some unwanted structures at the Ineos site in Grangemouth tonight in an explosion captured by The Falkirk Herald.

Photographer Michael Gillen was on the scene at Gate 12 just off Inchyra Road to photograph and film the big bang – which heard and felt by residents all over the town.

The work is part of an ongoing project at the site to remove redundant equipment to clear space for new office accommodation and a business headquarters.

An Ineos spokesman said: “Safety will always be our number one priority. This piece of demolition work has been carefully and meticulously planned and assessed.

“It took place on a part of the site that is now a demolition plot where there has been no manufacture of chemicals for many years.”
