The 104th annual general meeting of the 27th Bonnybridge Scout Group was held on Thursday, May 14. Chairman Russell Smith welcomed everyone to the meeting, with a special welcome to Falkirk District Scout chairman Jim McKellor and Falkirk District commissioner Anne Gilchrist. Group Scout Leader Margaret Plank invited anyone interested to come along and join the committee or offer some time to help at meeting nights or help with badge work. Beaver of the Year Amy Monaghan also gained her Beaver Bronze Chief Scouts Award. Cub of the Year is Sandy Clark and Scout of the Year Joseph Scobbie. District commissioner Anne Gilchrist presented GSL Margaret Plank with her 15-year service certificate; Chief Scouts Commondation to James Plank; Wood Badges to ABSL Chloe Glass and ASL Scott Walton. Later this year Scott will be attending the World Jamboree in Japan. Chairman Russell Smith presented a thanks badge to Alison Ingram who retired as group treasurer after seven years. Vice-chairman Grant McArthur giving the vote of thanks congratulated all who had gained awards and to all who had helped to make the evening a success.
Denny & Dunipace Citizens Advice Bureau provides an information and advice service at Bonnybridge Community Centre on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each week. The club enjoyed the ever popular annual friendly with the members from Condorrat B.C. last weekend which resulted in the customary friendly draw. Those members who are playing against Hawick this weekend are reminded that the bus leaves the club on Saturday at 10 a.m. The winning triples at the last bunnets night were A Wren, W Baxter and T Shaw. New members welcome.
Bonnybridge walkers leave from the Royal Hotel at 10.30 a.m. every Wednesday. You have a choice of an hour walk or a slower 30 minute walk amongst many marvellous paths. For more information please call (01324) 673703.
The Bonny Strollers buggy group meet every Friday 1.15 p.m. at Bonnybridge Health Centre, Larbert Road, Bonnybridge. All welcome. All walks are free.
