A street had to be sealed off last night and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team had to rush to the scene after a discarded grenade was discovered in Carron Place, Grangemouth.

The alarm went up just after 6.30 p.m. and police cordoned off the area for a short time as EOD experts carried out an investigation. The device turned out to be a spent smoke grenade and was quickly disposed of.

Central Scotland Police thank the residents affected for their patience in relation to the incident, which they stated had been fully resolved.
