At the BB World Mission Fund annual general meeting at Carronvale House on September 11, the BB in Scotland’s involvement with overseas projects was highlighted.

An increase in receipts of £2000 a year over the last three years means £12,000 will be presented to the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland for this year’s project.

It centres on a campsite at Comenius in the Czech Republic being renovated to let young people enjoy sports, outdoor activities and Christian fellowship. Its use is being extended to less-privileged youngsters from the Ukraine and it is hoped Scottish BB members will be able to help on site.

The next day the battalion executive committee heard encouraging financial reports from both company and junior committees.

Six local seniors have begun the two-year KG VI Officer Cadet Course.

The Battalion Council will now be held, on Thursday, October 3, when a main item will be planning of an updated constitution, requiring as many officers as possible to be present. A venue has still to be finalised

Marking the 130th anniversary of the founding of the BB, there will be a Founders Day Parade and Service at Cathcart Old Parish Church, Glasgow, on Sunday, October 27; parade at 10.15 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Seniors or officers willing to represent the battalion should contact battalion secretary Sheena McKellar on (01324) 712825.

3rd Falkirk Company will hold its enrolment service at The People’s Church on Sunday, October 6. Members, friends and relatives will be made welcome.
