Brave Bainsford toddler Hollie Taylor got an unforgettable birthday surprise when she was picked to front awards for children with cancer.

Hollie, who turns three tomorrow, has been chosen to launch the Little Star awards for Cancer Research UK in Scotland.

The high-profile awards, which will honour the courage of little ones with cancer, will also be backed by celebrities like singer-songwriter Emeli Sande.

Hollie is doing well after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year.

Mum Elaine McDowell said: “Hollie is my little star and has kept our family strong through the toughest year of our lives.”

Now family and friends of young cancer patients or survivors who deserve special recognition are being urged to nominate their Little Stars at cruk.org/littlestar.
