Baby of the Week: Samuel William Reid

The birth of Samuel William Reid

THE DETAILS: Samuel William Reid was born on December 7 at 8.15 a.m. at Stirling Royal Infirmary weighing 6lb 8.5oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Caroline (34) is an office assistant in Falkirk while dad John (45) is a baker with Mathiesons in Larbert. Samuel is a wee brother for Emily (5) who loves the new addition to her family. The Reids live in Grangemouth.

THE PREGNANCY: Caroline's pregnancy went well, although she suffered from a bit of sickness and a lot of heartburn.

THE BIRTH: Samuel was a day early but the birth went to plan. Caroline's labour was relatively quick at just four hours and the baby was born safe and well.

THE BABY: Samuel is a lovely baby who eats and sleeps quite well.

THE NAME: Caroline and John found picking a boy's name quite difficult but Caroline was attracted to biblical and traditional names. When the baby was born, Caroline thought that the name Samuel suited his wee face when she first set eyes on him. William is dad John's middle name.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Little Samuel is a third grandchild for Susan and Bruce Ward from Carronshore and a 15th for Bill and Nina Reid from Falkirk.

THANKS: Special thanks go to the midwives on the Rose Team at Stirling Royal Infirmary who were there throughout the birth.
