Arrest after hunt for male with weapon

A teenager was arrested after reports of someone with a weapon in Falkirk town centre on Saturday.

Police were called out around 2.35pm after reports of a male in possession of a weapon in the High Street.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “In response to this report, local and armed officers attended and carried out enquiries. There was no immediate trace of the man in the area and armed officers subsequently withdrew.

“Following further enquiries, and recovery of an air weapon, a 17-year-old man was arrested and charged.

“A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The Police Scotland helicopter was also called out to help with the search.
