Catch up with Falkirk folk in far flung places
WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY? Falkirk (Ladysmill area).
WHERE ARE YOU NOW? Abu Dhabi.
WHY ARE YOU THERE? Working here.
WHAT DO YOU DO? I have a security consultancy and training company. We do security management and train police and security units and provide protection services to visiting artists and business people.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN THERE? Since 2004.
FAMILY? My wife Jeniffer and dog Rocky 2.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE NOW? The weather (when not too hot), lifestyle, safety of the place, you could leave your doors unlocked as crime is still quite low. No strikes, demonstrations or industrial actions (unions and strikes are banned).
ANYTHING YOU DON’T LIKE? The weather (when too hot). Bad driving techniques – it’s one of the biggest causes of death. Some procedures are frustrating because it’s a young country so rules and laws change and sometimes don’t make sense to Westerners.
BIGGEST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THERE AND HERE? No tax! Great lifestyle, cheap fuel,
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST FROM HOME? Family, fish suppers! Nearly everything else available, including Irn Bru and haggis.
ANY MESSAGE FOR FAMILY AND OLD FRIENDS? To sister Liz and husband Jim, niece Shelley, her husband Stephen and their kids, miss you and hope to see you soon. To my old friends from Graeme High and the Bog, find me on Facebook.
