So who did decide the number of spaces for new hospital car park?

A WAR of words has broken out over who made the decision to only have 1500 car parking spaces at a new £300 million hospital.

The opening of Forth Valley Royal in Larbert takes place in just 10 days , but it could be overshadowed by a row over staff parking - or the lack of it – at the prestigious new development.

Around 2700 employees, including doctors, nurses, auxiliaries, cooks, cleaners and porters, were invited to apply for permits to access the designated parking areas.

Earlier this month 1200 disappointed workers heard their applications had been turned down.

Since then, the disgruntled employees have been trying to decide how they will get to work when they move to the site off Stirling Road.

Although health bosses have put plans in place for extra public transport, many staff say they have no other option but to take their cars and park in residential streets nearby.
