FEARS a two-month road closure would cripple a village's businesses have been realised according to traders.
Work being carried out by Scottish Water, Scottish Gas, and Falkirk Council has closed part of the B816 Seabegs Road which connects Allandale and Bonnybridge.

A four-mile diversion route is in now in place, but Allandale businesses say losing passing trade is having a severe impact.

Margaret Craig, from Craig's Licenced Grocers, says she may be forced to close this weekend until the work is done.

She said: "My takings were down £1000 in just one day. I don't see how I can stay open."

Restaurant owner Johnny Sandhu from Underwood Lockhouse said: "I'm down 40 per cent already, and I think it's only going to get worse.

"This road is a main route for people going to the Falkirk Wheel, so the summer months are our busiest."
