IMMIGRATION officers arrested four Pakistani men working in a Falkirk restaurant.
The UK Border Agency swooped on the Sanam Tandoori in Falkirk around 5 p.m. on Saturday after a tip off.
It is understood the popular curry house was closed for around 15 minutes while they interviewed 11 members of staff.
Four were then taken to Falkirk Police Station and after having their documents checked all found to be in the country and working illegally.
They were arrested for immigration offences and steps are now being taken to remove them from the UK.
Restaurant owner Mohammed Anwar is also being investigated. The Glasgow businessman has been warned he could face civil penalties for employing illegal workers.
If further inquiries show that the proper procedures were not carried out he could face a fine of up to £10,000 for each illegal worker employed. Yesterday (Wednesday) Mr Anwar (57), who has run the business in Callendar Road for 30 years, was unavailable for comment.
Phil Taylor, regional director of the agency said: "We are carrying out operations like this one in Falkirk across Scotland every week.
Employing illegal workers damages our communities and we are determined to step in and identify those businesses who are breaking immigration laws and to remove those people who do not have the right to be in the UK."
The UK Border Agency has set up a special hot-line for anyone who suspects illegal workers are being hired. All calls to 0800 555 111 can be made anonymously.
The Government has copied the Australian-style points-based system for managing migration to make sure only those with the skills the UK needs are allowed to work here. Employers unsure about the rules are advised to phone their helpline on 0845 010 6677.
