RESIDENTS fear there could be fighting in the street as parking chaos takes over after the opening of the new Forth Valley hospital in Larbert.
As revealed in last week's Falkirk Herald, staff moving into the new facility in Larbert are angry about the small number of permits being issued allowing parking in the hospital site.
NHS Forth Valley made 1500 permits available. It received 2
700 applications.
Members of staff, set to relocate from wards in Falkirk and Stirling Royal Infirmaries, are angry that they will be unable to park within the hospital grounds.
Now residents living close to the £300 million hospital have added their voices to the concerns being expressed.
They fear parking facilities at the site will be inadequate, despite reassurances from NHS Forth Valley.
Yvonne Weir, secretary of Larbert, Stenhousemuir and Torwood Community Council, said people are worried that workers who don't get a permit, will park in the surrounding side streets as a substitute car park because available public transport is not viable or convenient for some members of staff.
She said: "Residents in the area have approached the Community Council with their concerns over parking in the streets surrounding the hospital and it is extremely disappointing that there now appears to be insufficient spaces for staff."
