THE ANNUAL march commemorating those that fell at the Battle of Falkirk in 1298 was held on Saturday.

More than 400 people gathered at Falkirk High Street and were led by the Denny and Dunipace pipe band to the memorial cairn in Callendar Park.

A short service was then led by the Grand Prior of the Scottish Knights Templar.

It was the fourth annual march to mark what was one of the most significant battles in the Scottish Wars of Independence.

Sir William Wallace led an army of 6000 men against a much larger force under the command of King Edward I of England.

The battle resulted in a decisive English victory and Wallace resigned his title of Guardian of Scotland shortly after.
