THERE is only one solution to the current lack of affordable housing ... build more houses.

That was the view of Scottish minister for housing and communities Alex Neil as he gave a presentation entitled "Housing: Fresh Thinking, New Ideas" to tenants, housing association staff and other guests at Bowhouse Community Centre in Grangemouth on Wednesday.

He said: "The single biggest challenge in Scotland is simply the lack of houses. We need to build more even though Scottish Government spending is set to fall dramatically.

"We need more councils building houses, we need more housing associations building everywhere in Scotland in every single sector. We are all in it together."
