MULTI-MILLION pound plans have been unveiled to transform a mile-long stretch of waterside in Falkirk.

The ambitious project includes over 500 homes, a 50-bedroom hotel, a public square with leisure/retail and commercial units, the B-Listed
Union Inn and a new 50 berth marina.

An application for planning permission in principle for the 58-acre development was lodged with Falkirk Council yesterday (Wednesday).

The plan for the land, which runs from Rosebank Distillery to the
Falkirk Wheel, is a partnership collaboration between the local authority and British Waterways Scotland with the aim of regenerating and revitalising this length of the Forth & Clyde canal.

Months of public consultation gave the project a massive thumbs up with 93 per cent of those responding giving it total support.
