FALKIRK could be getting its very first wind farm – and it will be owned by the community.

A proposal has been put forward for five of the renewable energy providers to be erected at Todhill Farm, Larbert. The turbines will be owned by the community with a co-operative being formed allowing everyone who pays into the scheme to get a dividend at the end of each year.

The five turbines will create enough electricity to power 9000 homes and would be sited on land adjacent to Glenbervie Golf Course, heading towards Denny.

All the profits from the electricity generated by the proposed farm would be given back to the co-operative with a percentage going to benefit causes in the local area.
