LABOUR councillors have been accused of using litter laws to nobble the election race.

Their SNP opponents say a new ban on election posters is Labour's way of making up for a shortage of activists.

Falkirk Council's Labour-led administration voted through the election poster ban at its meeting last week.

Anyone putting up posters on lampposts or other items of street furniture will face being penalised under litter regulations.
Labour councillors claimed the posters were an "eyesore" and were contrary to the council's current anti-litter policy.
