Falkirk Councillors' expenses take a tumble

COUNCILLORS are costing taxpayers an extra few hundred pounds a year, but their expenses have dropped by almost 40 per cent.
In the year when their Westminster counterparts, have been in the spotlight for what they have been claiming, Falkirk Council members have curbed their spending dramatically.

Last year, the total salary and expenses bill was £617,415.19 – up £219.16 from 2008-09.

However, expense claims were £15,845.81, down £10,106.19 on the previous year.

But one said this week, tax payers are definitely getting value for money from councillors who are dealing with a much higher workload.
