DRESSED to thrill – that was trainee scaffolder Daryn Thornton, who was runner-up in the contest to find Scotland's Mr Boilersuit 2008.
DRESSED to thrill – that was trainee scaffolder Daryn Thornton, who was runner-up in the contest to find Scotland's Mr Boilersuit 2008.
The 19-year-old strutted his stuff at Glasgow's Garage club last Thursday.
Nominated by his colleagues who are working on the Forth Rail Bridge, Daryn had been stunned to make the final 12 of the competition organised by Real Radio from the hundreds who entered.
Daryn said: "We had to wear our boilersuit, as well as swim wear and eveningwear – but always with the boilersuit on! I was pretty nervous having to go up and down the catwalk three times, but it was a really good laugh."
The judges were Real Radio's Robin Galloway and Cat Harvey, TV home interior experts Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan, Miss Scotland Nieve Jennings and journalist Liz Cowan.
Admitting he was stunned to be runner-up, Daryn, of Beauly Court, Grangemouth, just lost out to a mechanical engineer from Fife who won a trip to Las Vegas.
The event raised more than £5000 for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland.
