WHILE most teenagers are filling the long summer holiday with football games and shopping trips, Gavin Dick is spending his in a radio studio.

The 15-year-old has been honing his production skills at Central FM for two years on the Friday Sports Extra programme, as well as running the radio station at Braes High School, and is now ready to tackle presenting.

The confident teen's interest in radio began when his dad, Douglas took him to Central FM in his role as the media officer with Central Scotland Fire and Rescue.

Gavin said: "I'd never really thought about a career in radio until then but once I'd been in the studio I wanted to learn more and asked to come back.

"At first I think people thought I was too young to take it seriously – I was only 12 – but soon they realised I was passionate and wanted to learn."
