Boris is one of UK's best police dogs

A CENTRAL Scotland police dog can claim to be one of the best in Britain after grabbing second prize in a national competition.
Two–year–old German Shepherd Boris and handler Constable George Lewandowski achieved the accolade at the National Police Dog Trials in Merseyside.

The duo had netted the top award in Scotland, which meant they qualified for the UK trials.

Cameron Shanks, dog section sergeant, said: "This shows the dedication and professionalism of our officers and their charges. We are delighted."

Meanwhile, two four-legged recruits to the force recorded results after only a few weeks on the job.

Oskar, an 18–month-old German Shepherd, discovered a women with a weak pulse who later recovered in hospital. He also rumbled a youth involved in a house-breaking.

And two-year-old Jasper, a Belgium and german Shepherd cross, also managed to foil a housebreaker.
