HARD work and dedication paid off for Ashley Russell as she made it through to the final six Nancys battling for West End stardom.
The Grangemouth girl performed the Shirley Bassey hit 'Big Spender' on Saturday night's 'I'd Do Anything' show.

And the talented 24-year-old now means business.

She said: "Even when we get time off I'm still practising, I don't have time at the
moment to be watching TV and relaxing. I'm upping my game and I'm ready and going for it."

After weeks of mixed comments Ashley's perseverance is shining through with good remarks from the panel this week.

Denise said she had "just the right amount of sexiness for the role" and award-winning composer Andrew Lloyd Webber said he hoped she stayed in the competition so he could work with her again.

And it is those watching and voting at home that really keeps Ashley going.

She said: "It means the world for people to vote for me. I was so unbelievably grateful to get through with out being in the sing off.

"I'm not 100 per cent sure if I was in the sing-off that I would be kept in.

"I can't even begin to tell you what it's like to have come so far. I really don't want to be going home."

The competition is now fierce and Ashley is feeling the pressure as much as the rest.

She said: "It is hard when Andrew Lloyd Webber is giving good comments to everyone else but not to me. It feels like when you are a kid and everyone else is getting a sweetie but you're not allowed."
