ON Sunday thousands of women will be donning their running shoes for this year's Falkirk Race for Life.
The event takes place in Callendar Park and around 2100 will be walking, jogging and running the 5 km in aid of charity.

The annual national event is organised by Cancer Research UK and the Falkirk race is expected to raise more than £152,000 in s
ponsorship.

Cancer Research UK's Janet Cooper said: "I'm absolutely delighted by the terrific response of local women to our invitation to join us at Race for Life this year.

"It is such an inspiring and emotional day where women of all ages and abilities come together to make a real difference."

The Falkirk Herald is the media sponsor for the event, and earlier this month held a competition for a reader to win the number one vest.

Coming out tops was 21-year-old Lauren Adams from Grangemouth who was nominated by family, friends and colleagues.

Lauren's mum, Angela Kidd, died of breast cancer in January, aged just 39.

Then, just three months later, Lauren's fiance Kris Binnie was sent to Afghanistan with the Army.

Lauren will be joined in the race by her aunt Rona Kidd.

Entry for the race has now closed, but participants and spectators can visit www.raceforlife.org/scotland for more information on Sunday's event.

The run will start at 11 a.m. and participants are advised to arrive one hour before.
