Falkirk Stadium is set to rock to the sound of some of the biggest hit-makers of the 1980s.

The first ‘Rock the Stadium’ event will kick-off on Saturday, June 22 with performances from the likes of Midge Ure, Altered Images, Five Star, Toyah and T’Pau.

‘Here and Now: The Very Best of The ‘80s’ will be part of a two-day music festival at The Falkirk Stadium.

Ure is well-known for writing a string of smash hits including ‘Vienna’ and ‘Fade to Grey’, as well helping to organise Live Aid with Bob Geldof.

He said: “Falkirk is a fantastic place and I can’t wait to play at the stadium there.

“I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with some great contemporaries from the 80s era and give central Scotland a fantastic fun night of entertainment.”

Organisers will be hoping the concert can match the success of this year’s Elton John show, when more than 13,000 people flocked to Westfield.

A second day of music will take place on June 23, with Falkirk Football Club promising to announce more “big names” in the new year.
