FALKIRK'S roads are causing a hole lot of bother for motorists.
Just a few minutes drive in any direction around the district and you are sure to encounter at least one pothole.
As well as being unsightly, they can also be costly for motorists.
Allan McFeat of Falkirk is an LGV driver and experiences potholes on a daily basis.
He said: "I encounter them every day and it really makes me furious.
"The roads are a complete disgrace, especially considering the amount of road tax we are expected to pay and the rising cost of petrol.
"It definitely adds to the wear and tear of your tyres.
"I've had to put a new ball joint on my car because of the bad state of the roads.
"And, they're there for long enough – they seem to be around for weeks, with nothing getting done to them.
"Even driving from the town to my house, which is only a five-minute journey, I pass so many pot holes.
His concerns were echoed by industry professional and
Angus MacIver, chairman of Forth Valley Advanced Motorists, pointed to the safety issues relating to poor road surfaces.
He said: "When we are out driving, we always have to be aware of, and look out for, pot holes because they can cause danger.
"They can cause you to lose control of the car or can cause damage to the car's springs or shock absorbers."
"The problem does seem to have become worse in the last few years.
"There seems to be more pot holes on the roads.
"It's a combination of lots of rain breaking up the roads, and councils not having sufficient funding to repair and fix the roads."
A spokesperson for Kwik Fit in Falkirk said: "It's difficult always to know how cars have become damaged as we're not driving them.
"But, if people do hit potholes, it can damage the tyres and other parts of the vehicle, such as suspension and wheel alignment."
