The fishing season once again cast off on the Rivers Forth and Teith, although this year was slightly different with no opening celebrations on Monday due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Currently angling is still permitted under the Government’s Covid-19 restrictions and is available to anyone in the Stirling Council area.

Angling activity should be restricted to individuals, household groups or no more than two people from two households, suitably distanced.

Gatherings for fishing competitions, club outings or group meetings are not permitted under the current restrictions.

If anglers do not reside within five miles of the boundary then they should not travel to Stirling Council managed fisheries.

Stirling Council Fisheries Manager Scott Mason said: “We are sad that we can't currently welcome our friends from all over the UK to join us to celebrate the new season.

“However, it is important that we all continue to be safe, protect the NHS and follow the current Coronavirus restriction and measures that are in place.

“We ask that anglers stay as close to home as possible – within the Stirling Council Area, or no more than five miles from the boundary – and stay away from crowded places.

“We look forward to brighter days where we can welcome everyone back to the riverbank.”
