The wedding of Aysha McIvor and Mark Thomson

THE COUPLE: Aysha (30) is from Brightons and is a full-time mum, while Mark (30), who is originally from California village, is an engineer with the RAF based down south. The family live in Shieldhill.

HOW THEY MET: Aysha and Mark were set up on a blind date by a friend, and they hit it off straight away. Aysha said she was basically the female version of Mark, with the couple having lots in common.

THE PROPOSAL: Mark popped the question to an unsuspecting Aysha in the Cotton House in Longcroft. Aysha had no idea that Mark was going to propose but was thrilled to accept.

THE WEDDING: The wedding took place on February 5 at Dornoch Cathedral. Aysha’s family have been holidaying in Dornoch for as long as she can remember and the couple now take the children there for holidays, so the location was very important to everyone. The wedding was an intimate affair with both sets of parents and the couple’s children, Jamie (7) and one-year-old Louise. The couple even made it down to the beach for some photographs.

THE WEDDING PARTY: The couple’s fathers, Kevin McIvor and Stuart Thomson, were the witnesses, Jamie was the ring bearer and Louise was a baby bridesmaid.

THE DRESS: Aysha wore a champagne gown of duchess satin with a lot of detail and embroidery.

THE HONEYMOON: The couple spent time together in Dornoch, including staying in Dornoch castle, after the wedding and are hoping to go on holiday later in the year.

THANKS: Special thanks go to both sets of parents and to the minister, Rev Susan Brown.
