This picture of Muiravonside House in its heyday brought memories back for Ann Braes.

Ann used to work in the visitor centre at Muiravonside Park where the house used to be and has kept in touch with one of the members of the Stirling family who owned it.

Charles Stirling, who had 16 children, bought the house in 1799 before John Stirling purchased it from his cousin in 1883.

The house passed through the family until the local council bought it when it became Muiravonside Country Park.

Ann said: “Nora Mitchell, who was the niece of the last Stirling to own the house, visited the centre a lot and we have kept in touch.

“She is a very healthy 90 now and lives in Dorset. She donated a blanket that was used in the house and a map. I hope I can get a copy of the picture to send to Nora. She was very fond the house.”
