Many Falkirk Bairns bravely fought in the First World War with the Argyll Sutherland Highlanders and a genealogical researcher is hoping to trace the family of one local soldier to give them his Victory Medal for his service.
Tim Hodge, from Silsden, was handed the medal of Private Robert Nimmo who served from the age of 18, signing up in Stirling on August 21, 1917 until his discharge in November 1919.
Mr Hodge’s research also found Pte Nimmo served with the Seaforth Highlanders and was part of the final push in France during the last few months of the war.
He was born in Falkirk in 1899 to Elisabeth and Alexander and had two sisters Jane and Rachel and a brother John. He also worked with the Carron Company of Miners.
If you know Pte Nimmo’s family please get in touch on (01324) 690249.
