For many people their jobs aren’t just nine-to-five necessities, but labours of love that carry on even after they retire.

James Sharp (57), from Shieldhill, fits into this bracket.

He used to own James Sharp Removals & Storage based in his village with a warehouse in Dalderse Avenue, Falkirk.

During his time as a removals man, James developed a passion for old photos of furniture vans which used to do the rounds in the district in bygone eras.

Many of his snaps have featured on these pages as James is a regular contributor to the nostalgia section, but now he wants people to submit pictures to a Facebook page he’s set up.

He said: “I’ve been collecting old pictures of furniture vans for many years now. They all have a unique story and place in local history. Thousands of people will have used them to move.”
