People tend to move house when their lives change in some way, but the owners of this house discovered that their home could grow with them.

June and Mark Robertson had their own properties before they decided to get married and start a family.

But they soon found out that their plan to sell both properties and buy another home wasn’t the only option.

Instead, Mark’s Laurieston bungalow was extended at the top and out the back.

The couple added two bedrooms upstairs and a family room at the rear.

The result is a “beautiful family home” where they have welcomed daughters Evie (5) and Jorgie (2).

June said: “When we were looking for a family home, we found that nothing had the potential that this house did.

“One of the things I really like about it is that, from the front, you wouldn’t know it’s been extended.

“It’s a beautiful family home, and there are lovely features like high ceilings and big rooms.”

The four-bedroom traditional semi now offers flexible accommodation, complete with a sunny garden and patio,

Highlights include a bay-window lounge, a luxury shower room, and a stylish but family-friendly kitchen.

Upstairs, the master bedroom features a Parisian balcony, a four-piece bathroom and a substantial walk-in storage area which is being used as a playroom.

June added: “It’s in a perfect location.

“It’s great for both Edinburgh and Glasgow, and it’s walking distance to schools and attractions like the Helix.”

The property in Grahamsdyke Street, Laurieston, is on the market with Slater Hogg & Howison at offers over £204,995. For more information, contact (01324) 406034.
