The wedding of Sam Valentine and Brian McGinlay
THE COUPLE: Sam (28) is a pay and bill specialist in Grangemouth, while Brian (31) is a forklift truck driver also in Grangemouth. The couple are both from the area originally, and are living in Grangemouth.
HOW THEY MET: The couple met through a mutual friend, and have been together for eight-and-a-half years.
THE PROPOSAL: The couple’s son was born in December 2009 and Sam and Brian got engaged the following March which was their five-year anniversary.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on August 3, 2013, at The Three Kings. There were 60 guests during the day and just over 100 in the evening. The day went fantastically well, and Sam was very tearful. A special moment was when their son, Aiden, wanted to play his part in marrying his parents, and got to put the engagement ring back on mum’s finger as they signed the documents.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Sam’s bridesmaids were Lynsey McGinlay, Laura McGinlay, Laura Campbell and Jade Kelly. The best man was Scott McGinlay, Brian’s older brother, and the usher was Scott Campbell. Sam’s brother Lee gave her away. The page boy was Aiden McGinlay and Paige McGinlay, the couple’s niece, was the flower girl.
THE DRESS: Sam lost five stone in 11 months to look her best on her wedding day. The dress, an antique cream Alfred Angelo gown, was a size 20 but was altered to a size 10.
THE HONEYMOON: The newlyweds spent the five nights of their honeymoon at a private lodge in the Trossachs.
THANKS: Special thanks go to family and friends, especially chief bridesmaid Lynsey. Thanks also to photographer Emma Gray and staff at The Three Kings.
