The wedding of Pauline Tollins and Alasdair Mullen

THE COUPLE: Pauline is 28 and works for NHS national services Scotland in Edinburgh, and Alasdair Mullen (30) is a data analyst in the capital. The couple live in Grangemouth.

HOW THEY MET: Pauline and Alasdair first met in Austin’s pub in Falkirk about 10 years ago. They have been together ever since.

THE PROPOSAL: Alasdair popped the question on Christmas Day, 2011. He had wrapped up a boxed card which was for “his fiancee” with a replica engagement ring inside. Pauline was completely surprised as she wasn’t expecting it.

THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on February 8, 2014 at the Vu in Bathgate. There were 120 guests at the service and a total of 220 in the evening. Pauline said that the day was absolutely perfect, with every moment a highlight. Alasdair’s dad and step-mum also made it over from Malaysia.

THE WEDDING PARTY: Pauline’s bridesmaids were Joanne Weasenham, Kerry Malloy, and Lara Stirling. The best man was Alasdair’s childhood friend Scott Dalgleish, and the ushers were Alasdair’s three brothers Scott Wilson, Martin Wilson and Owen Mullen. The page boys were Liam and Charlie Tollins, Pauline’s nephews, and the flower girl was Emma Weasenham.

THE DRESS: Pauline wore an ivory Ronald Joyce silk backless gown.

THE HONEYMOON: The newly-weds spent the days after the wedding in London, but are looking forward to going to Mexico in June.

THANKS: Special thanks to the parents, and also to all family and friends, especially those who travelled from far and wide to attend the wedding.
